What does The Bible say about

ADULTERY?”

Thou shalt not commit adultery.” (Exodus 20:14) - The letter of this commandment prohibits unfaithfulness in marriage. The spirit of it also prohibits every kind of sexual perversion (i.e. fornication), including intercourse between unmarried persons, sodomy, bestiality etc., which are all condemned in other parts of scripture.

... to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband.” (1 Corinthians 7:2) “... they two shall be one flesh..” (Ephesians 6:31). Some define marriage as merely sexual union and committment, but the BIble calls this fornication!

... she is thy companion and the wife of thy covenant...” (Malachi 2:14) - Marriage is a covenant i.e. sworn under oath before God and witnesses. Any other “relationship” (so-called) is not marriage but sin. See also Hebrews 13:4, Matthew 5:28 & 32, & Mark 10:11“...Whosever shall put away his wife and marry another, committeth adultery..” Some call marriage what the Bible calls adultery!

... covenant-breakers ...” (Romans 1:31) is a clear reference to divorce or the deliberate breaking of a marriage.

Confusion abounds today. Don’t be fooled by the trendy new usage of words. The meaning of the King James Bible and English Dictionary are plain enough.

The good news is that no matter how great the sin, the sinner who repents and turns to Christ alone is forgiven. “... fornicators ... adulterers ... effeminate ... And such were some of you, but ye are washed...sanctified...justified in the name of the Lord Jesus...” (1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
